The inaugural AWO season, dedicated to the memory of Sir Charles Mackerras, will be in the form of 3 exciting concerts in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.
The Australian World Orchestra (AWO) is an historic first for Australia. One of the most exciting orchestral initiatives in its cultural history, the AWO concerts will be an event not to be missed - described by Australia's Film and Music luminary Baz Luhrmann as "one of the most exhilarating projects in our recent history of classical music!"
The AWO's vision is simple: to bring together many of Australia's successful classical musicians from around the world to form one of the country's most electrifying orchestras. Over 90 musicians representing over 45 orchestras, all at the top of their game, will join together under one roof over one weekend to form what is sure to be of the country's most talked about classical musical events.
